Dedicated overnight newborn care so you sleep deeply, heal fully, and wake up knowing exactly how your baby's night went.
Who this is for
The nights after birth are some of the hardest. A newborn feeds every two to three hours, doesn't know the difference between night and day, and has no way to regulate their own distress other than calling for you. This is biologically normal, and it is also genuinely exhausting in a way that accumulates fast. Sleep deprivation at the level most new parents experience it affects healing, mood, milk supply, decision-making, and the ability to be present with your baby during the day.
Overnight newborn care is for any family who wants, or needs, an uninterrupted block of sleep in the early weeks. This is not a luxury reserved for a certain kind of parent. Rest is a medical need, especially during postpartum recovery. Whether you're healing from a cesarean, managing postpartum depression, recovering from a difficult labor, or simply running out of the ability to function, overnight support is a concrete way to get what your body requires.
What to expect
Each overnight shift runs for eight hours. I arrive, we do a brief handoff so I understand where your baby is in their routine, and then you go to sleep. I take over everything: all feedings, all soothing, all diaper changes. If you're breastfeeding, I bring the baby to you for nursing and handle everything before and after, so your time awake is only what's necessary and you're back in bed as quickly as possible. If you're bottle feeding, I handle every feed entirely so you can sleep through the night undisturbed.
In between care for your baby, I do a light household reset, dishes, bottles washed and ready, surfaces tidied, so you wake up to a home that feels manageable rather than one that adds to the overwhelm. In the morning, before I leave, I give you a full handoff briefing: feeding times and amounts, sleep stretches, anything notable from the night, and how your baby is doing. Nothing gets lost in the handoff.
Overnight care is available as a standalone service or as an add-on to any doula support package. Families often book a series of nights, many find that even three to four nights of full rest in the first two weeks makes a meaningful difference in how the entire postpartum period unfolds.
Care philosophy
There is a pervasive idea in our culture that struggling through sleep deprivation is part of the deal, that asking for help with nights means you're not tough enough, or not committed enough, or not capable as a parent. I want to push back on that directly. Your body just did something enormous. It needs rest to recover. Your baby needs a parent who has slept.
Accepting overnight support is not giving up. It is making a clear-eyed decision to take care of yourself so that you can take care of your child, during the day, for the long run, for as many years of parenting as you have ahead of you. It is one of the most practical things you can do in the fourth trimester.
